I definitely think that they should automatically regen and be unlimited while you are in towns. Just another annoying little quirk of the game that gets so... annoying.

Also, it'd be nice if you could lower the cost for attribute points and you could increase the size of your attribute pool at the very least. You have a static refund pool, yet you keep getting new skills and attribute points. Blow me Anet and quit fcuking around and get to business. Do you guys have to keep all this useless annoying shit around? Jesus Christ I'm gonna kill myself with a plastic spoon.

I don't think A-net will change the attributes refund system.. since it only take 250 exp to get one point back! Than again, i might be wrong!
Also as a level 20 (W/E) I'm been switching between earth and fire magic (use earth magic for quests, and missions since it have the ward against stuff for different attacks) but it a pain in the butt to get back.. 7 to 8 attribute points when i have to fight lower class enemies. I know i can go to underworld with a group of people but that will cost 1k and only would get me.. 20 exp per kills. If the refund system automatically reset itself when you reach town, that would be a great idea!

yes it is only 250 exp to get a refund point back, god no it does not take AN HOUR soloing to get that back, it was moved down to 250 because of the whining and crying by people with a sever lack of skill, so keep whining guys, before long they will lower it for you again.

I dont see any problem with the refunds in PvE tbh. If you screw up your build, well, that's tough luck isn't it? That's the whole point of RPG, you make mistakes and learn from it - the only difference now is, rather than ruin your build completely (like in the old D2 days) you can eventually sort it out. That is the game punishing you for not thinking things through properly.
Really a non-issue in PvE, you can get all your refunds back in half an hour of soloing or completing a single medium length mission with guildies or friends.
As I said before, in PvP it serves no purpose whatsoever and forces the tedious (and occasionally risky to those who've accidentally killed a roleplay char) process of rebuilding a new pvp char.

As a lvl 20 getting full refund points back isn't that hard. You just go farm griffons or trolls or whatever for half an hour or so. It's just annoying and unnecessary.
As a lvl 17 in the Maguuma Jungle, which is where my mesmer is right now, its pretty RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing brutal. The stuff you kill give 25 exp each and isn't all easily farmed melee troops, and if you've gimped your avatar by unsuccessful respeccing for arena combat... Well, wont you have tons of fun.
Refund points: unlimited, but only in cities, FTW!

I think it's a roleplaying thing... you need to gain experience to retrain in another discipline, I guess they are saying to move from say a Fire Ele to a Water Ele you need to retrain....going out killing, earning xp and thus refund points is the roleplaying aspect of retraining another dicipline in your field.
That's all I can think of really :-)

It also punishes you for attempting to be creative, imaginative and trying new things out. No wonder you get the vast majority of people running around with the same type of build.
Perhaps every time you die in the game you should have your character wiped from the server too? That would also punish you for "not thinking". Wouldn't that be fun!? Games shouldn't be in the business of "punishing" people, anyway, they should be about encouraging you to use imagination and skill to win, not RSI.

Hate them!
The same story seems to be repeated here over and over again. Someone experiments with a new build, it doesn't work. They are stuck with their ineffectual build until they can hitch along with a group to earn EXP in the UW, or have to endure mindless grind in areas where the monsters will give scarce exp.
Getting rid of refund points, and allowing them to be changed at will in a town or outpost seems much more sensible. You can then experiment with new builds to your hearts content, find new, interesting and original builds that no-one has thought of yet, and not have to suffer the terrible consequences of semi-permanently crippling your character.

The refund system works great and at 250xp a point it's cheap enough for folks to use them while fighting (allowing adjustments during the fights is just wrong imo).

If you remove attribute refunds, it might affect certain farming builds, no? Or has that went away since Protective Bond was fixed?

refund refresh/unlimited in towns/outposts only since this game excourages the switching of skills and build so darn much for each different area. It would be nice if you didnt have to refund, then play through a whole mission to get the points back. Although it is easy for the solo player, but with an 8 person party or 8 person hench it will take at least 1 and 1/2 trips thru the hell's precipice mission (just using this as an example since it does have high level monsters) to get your points back starting from zero. I know this since i often switch btwn pure prot and pure heal for missions/fow/uw and i have to play thru a hell's mish and a half every time i want to switch just so i dont get stuck with zero attrib. and have my remaining attributes set in a way that i can't heal for much, and can't protect for much. I have been stuck with low prot , heal and df before and really..you can't do what you want to.
